Built on Grit. Engineered for Wealth.
Institutional discipline meets founder conviction. We invest in multifamily real estate with a focus on downside protection, alignment, and durable long-term outcomes.
Our Story: From Immigrants to Investors
We are Brian and Darlina — partners in life and business. We built our careers in New York City across financial services and FinTech, solving complex problems for institutions from Midtown to Wall Street.
Brian holds a Master's in Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. Darlina earned her MBA in Financial Management & Economics from Pace University.
As first-generation immigrants, we didn't start with capital or connections. We started with discipline — studying markets, managing risk, and deploying capital with care. Our first multifamily investment was a duplex in NYC. It wasn't glamorous, but it worked.
That early discipline continues to define how we invest today — conservative underwriting, aligned capital, and decisions built to hold up under stress.
What We Learned
Ownership over income: Wealth compounds through ownership, not income.
Cash flow matters: Real estate rewards patience, structure, and cash flow.
Discipline over opportunity: Discipline matters more than opportunity.
Alignment protects capital: Alignment protects capital when assumptions fail.
Why We Built Sooch Capital
We built Sooch Capital to apply institutional underwriting standards in a structure designed for alignment, not asset gathering.
Disciplined underwriting matters because assumptions fail. Markets shift. Cap rates expand. Refinancing windows close. Deals that look good on a spreadsheet can still destroy capital if the structure isn't built to survive stress.
Our background combines:
- Finance & market analysis
- Systems thinking & risk management
- Execution discipline from institutional environments
We apply that experience to avoid capital misalignment, reject spreadsheet-only underwriting, and design for stress — not best-case scenarios.
Our Mission
- Source deals that survive conservative underwriting
- Structure capital stacks to protect downside first
- Operate with the same discipline applied to personal capital
- Communicate transparently across market cycles
Our Promise
- We invest our own capital alongside investors
- We decline deals that don't meet our standards
- We prioritize long-term relationships over transaction volume
- We communicate clearly — especially when conditions change
Capital alignment is not a slogan. It's how we operate.
The Journey Ahead
We started as immigrants building careers in New York's financial district. We became investors by applying the same discipline we used professionally — studying markets, underwriting conservatively, and protecting capital.
Sooch Capital is the extension of that approach. We invest the same way we always have: with our own money on the line, transparent assumptions, and a refusal to chase deals that don't meet our standards.
If you're looking for sponsors who prioritize alignment over volume, and downside protection over promotional returns, we'd welcome the conversation.
